Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. RIFLE M1A / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / 214254”. The top of the bolt is marked “7790186-SA / F00179”. The oprod is marked “7267064-2 / SA”. The right side of the shank is marked “Geneseo IL. .308”. The bottom right of the receiver is marked “Springfield Inc. Geneseo IL.”. The right side of the front sight is marked “NM 062”. The inner left side of the mag well on the stock is marked “D-3741 / GB-2 / DT” and “22 / L”, the inner right side is marked “D-3742 GB-2 / DT”. The front of the hammer is marked “TRW 5546008”. The left side of the trigger housing is marked “7267030-OM-N”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective ears that is dovetailed and screw set to a base which is integral to the installed flash hider. There is a threaded mounting point integral to the left of the receiver for a side mounted rail for an optical sight. Mounted to the top of the receiver via a Picatinny CASM rail is a Vortex Crossfire II scope with 4-12x magnification and a Dead-Hold BDC reticle. The scope shows only the faintest of handling marks and the lenses are crystal clear. The scope rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a USGI contract manufactured by the General Tire & Rubber Company. It has been refinished with OD Green paint and features a semi-pistol grip, a straight comb, and a firm rubber step-serrated buttpad with the factory sling swivel stud at the bottom of the forend and a fixed sling swivel at the rear. The upper handguard is green polymer. The stock shows some infrequent nicks and dings through the finish with a notable scratch on rear right side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The length of pull measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad shows little to no wear. Overall, this stock rates in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is some stubborn fouling in the flash hider. The barrel shows a few small scratches through the finish. The gas chamber shows light thinning at the edges. The receiver and bottom metal show light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp and clear. Overall, the rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a black canvas soft case with a total of one 10-round magazine, paperwork including a manual, a safety lock, and a Springfield MA4GENAM aluminum scope mount. The soft case shows minor storage wear with strong stitching and rates in about Fine-Excellent condition. The magazine shows light scattered fine marks and minor thinning at the edges from operational wear. The scope mount shows a few fine nickas at certain edges and is in about Fine-Excellent overall condition. The case for the mount has some light scuffs from storage and no chips or cracks, it rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This M1A has definitely been well maintained by the previous owner. With a bright and shiny bore and solid mechanics, you’ll undoubtedly stack dimes at the range. Please see our photos and good luck!
