Action Type: Semi Auto, Detachable Magazine. There is No magazine.
Markings: There is no visible import mark. The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. CARBINE / CAL. .30 M1” on the front and “STD. PRO. / 2195132” on the rear. The left side of the receiver is marked “0 F” below the wood line. The top of the barrel is marked “I.B.M. CORP.” and “P”. I.B.M. supplied barrels for Standard Products (page 51 of Craig Riesch’s book, U.S. M1 Carbines Wartime Production). The right rear of the trigger group is marked “BE-B” which was used by Standard Products and IBM (page 78). The hammer is marked “WM” which is a post WWII rebuild mark (page 89 & 185). The magazine release is marked “M” and “EI” which is an Inland mark (page 100-101). The rotary safety is marked “J.A.O.” which is a post WWII rebuild mark (page 95 & 184 ). The inside of the operating slide is marked “”F inside a heart” and “.U.” which is an Underwood mark (page 65). The bolt is marked “S6” on the right lug which is a Standard Products mark (page 36). The front sight is marked “N” which was used by Standard Products and others (page 56). The Type II rear sight is marked “H in a shield” which was used by Standard Products and others (page 29-30). The Type III barrel band is marked “EM-Q” on the lug which is a Quality Hardware mark (page 59). The stock is unmarked.
Barrel Length: Approximately 18 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a post set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable Type II aperture.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, barrel band with sling loop & bayonet lug, sling well, sling pass through and a metal buttplate. The refinished buttplate shows a few light scrapes. The wood shows various scuffs & light handling marks. The LOP measures 13 ¼ inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild
Bore Condition: The bore is semi bright; light grey near the muzzle. The rifling is sharp. There is erosion near the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 2.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish.The barrel shows a few scrapes under the barrel band. The right side of the receiver and the bolt show some light thinning consistent with cycling. The metal shows various scuffs & light handling marks. The screw head shows use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: There is No magazine. The rifle comes with an unmarked canvas sling that is in about Excellent condition
