Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SPORTING / BERETTA-GARDONE V.T – MADE IN ITALY / HP 20 Ga. 76mm for 2 ¾” .3″-30″-16.0”. The right side of the barrel is marked “WARNING READ MANUAL BEFORE USE / BERETTA USA CORP. ACKK. MD.”. The bottom left shoulder of the barrel near the receiver is marked with two Italian and the “CS” and “ALLOYED CR. MO. QUENCHED HIGH TENSILE STEEL / XB200256 IT17”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “0283283”. The right side of the frame is marked with the Beretta logo, “Xcel”, and “XA201395 / IT14”. The underside of the receiver is marked with two proof marks and the date code “CM”. The left of the receiver is marked “A400 Xcel 20 GA / MADE IN ITALY-PATENTED”.
Barrel Length: 30” With Ventilated Rib
Choke: The gun takes interchangeable chokes. Currently installed is a skeet choke. M, IM, and IC are included.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a white fiber optic bead at the muzzle on top of the ventilated rib. Mounted midway is a small silver toned bead. The top of the receiver is serrated to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece wood stocks are checkered with finger grooved forend, a pistol grip, a straight fluted comb, and a firm rubber Beretta buttpad. There is little indication of use, the gun has been cared for and stored very well. The checkering is sharp with no signs of compressed checkers. The LOP measures 14 1/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the firm rubber buttpad. The pad shows no notable imperfections. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of finish shows light operational wear from cycling the action and light firing. The gun does not appear to have been used to break brush or as a walking stick. It appears to have been put away extremely clean. There is nothing eye-catching or defects that we can see. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The factory hard case is included with this shotgun. The factory paperwork, extra choke tubes, stock shims, and choke tube wrench are all included with this shotgun. The hard case and accessories rate in about Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This gun immediately caught our eye once we opened the case. The royal blue receiver is sleek and the juxtaposition to the dark wood makes it pop. As we dove deeper the 20 gauge chambering made our mouths water, for our wives of course. Beretta makes arguably the best semi-auto shotgun at the price point. Don’t get us wrong, this gun would retail is a hard pill for any sportsman to swallow. Even if you miss every clay or bird while in the field, you will have a nice gun that your buddies will wonder how you afforded in the first place, you definitely are not sponsored…
