Markings: The barrel extension is marked “1936” on the chamber ring, the left is marked “4216”. The extractor is marked “16”, found again on the takedown lever, trigger, sideplate, safety, the left of the firing pin, breech-block, top of the front toggle link, rear of the back toggle link, and the sear. The top of the front link is also marked “S/42” (Mauser production code). The left of the extractor is marked “GELADEN”. The front face of the frame is marked “4216 / o”. The left of the breech-block has a faint eagle inspection mark. The right of the barrel extension has two eagle over “63” waffenamts and an eagle inspection mark. The right-rear of the barrel has an eagle inspection mark. The bottom of the barrel is marked “4216 / 8,81”. The alloy magazine floorplate is marked “2578 / n / +” and with an eagle over “63” waffenamt. The bottom of the barrel is import-marked “LUGER P08 9MM GERMANY / C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT.”. The inside of the left grip panel is marked “52” and with an inspection mark. The inside of the right panel is marked “0 0 / M”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed to a base at the muzzle. The rear sight is a “V”-notch integral to the rear toggle link.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut. The grips have handling wear with scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches. The checkering has some areas worn smooth with much well defined. The left panel has a chip-loss at the top-rear behind the safety. There are no cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Good-Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is gray with well defined rifling. There is scattered erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 92% of its current metal finish. The new finish is generally strong. There are scattered speckles in the finish on the left side. There are several scattered minor nicks, scratches and spots of surface oxidation. There are infrequent nicks and spots of minor erosion under the finish. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are generally clear, some of the inspection marks are shallow and worn. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is no play between the barrel assembly and frame. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
