Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “+COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.+”, the left is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” in an acid-etch panel style, the right is marked “1873 PEACEMAKER CENTENNIAL 1973”. The left of the frame is marked “PAT. SEPT 19. 1871 / PAT. JULY 2, 1872. The left of the trigger guard is marked “.44C.F.”. The bottom of the frame and the bottom of the trigger guard are each marked “1597PC”, the butt is marked “1597 / PC”. The outside of the cylinder is marked “1597”. The inside of each grip panel has “1597” hand-scribed. The rear of the loading gate is marked “597”. The bottom of the barrel at the rear is marked “44”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter-round blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “V”-notch at the rear of a groove in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black synthetic panels with rampant colt in oval at their tops and American Eagles at their bottoms. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp and there is good detail in the colts and eagles. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks and a faint, incomplete turn line which is not through the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and very smoothly. The frame is a “black-powder” style, with the cylinder pin retained with a set screw in the front of the frame. Lockup produces almost no play on all six chambers. The trigger is crisp. The cylinder’s bushing is removable. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a leatherette Colt 1873 Peacemaker Centennial 1973 display case. The interior has a portrait of Samuel Colt on the lid and the tray portion is lined with brown velvet, french-fit for the revolver and a Frontier Six Shooter centennial commemorative plate. The case shows minor storage wear, in about Fine-plus condition.
