Markings: The right side of the slide is marked ”COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The left side of the slide is marked “COLT MK IV / –SERIES 80–” followed by a rampant colt. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. / SS15636E”. The barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO-“. The left of the trigger guard is marked with the “VP” proof and “3”, the right is marked “5”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with a recessed white dot and is fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two recessed white dots and is dovetailed to the rear of the slide. The front sight dot and one of the rear sight dots have slightly discolored.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one-piece wrap-around checkered black rubber grip with silver rampant colt medallions. The grips have a few scuff marks and the checkering is sharp. The most noticeable defects are on the left side up at the top. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are a few little draglines and there are a couple of hairline scratches on the polished portions. The matte portions show some scattered rubs and scuffs that have caused smooth spots. There are some spots of light discoloration on the matte portions. There is a light arc on the frame from takedown. There is standard operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide-to-frame fit has hardly any play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a blue hard case, serial matching case sleeve, paperwork including the manual, and a pair of 7-round magazines with Chip McCormick followers. The box has a few light handling marks, in about Excellent condition. The sleeve has some rips and heavy edge wear. One of the end flaps is about to tear off, and some of the ears have torn off. The sleeve rates in about Fair-Good condition The magazines show light operational wear with intact feed lips and strong springs, in about Fine Plus condition.
