Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 03-A3 / 3970090”. The top of the barrel is marked “R A / flaming bomb / 9-43”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “P”. The safety is marked “SAFE READY” and the magazine cutoff is marked “ON OFF”. The right side of the front sight base is marked “R” and the right of the blade is marked “A”. The extractor collar is marked with a circled “R”. The left of the nosecap, stacking loop, front sling loop, and rear sling loop base are marked “R”. The bottom of the rear bolt lug is electopencilled “WV” and the underside of the bolt handle is electropencilled “W”. The right rear of the bolt is marked “R” and has a small faded number.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a pinned blade set in a raised base. The rear sight is absent. The chamber ring and the male dovetail base on the receiver both have an empty drilled and tapped hole. Included is a one-piece Redfield-style base, a pair of rings, and a Weaver Model 330 scope. The adjustment plate is marked “MODEL 330 / PATS. PEND. / W.R. WEAVER CO. / EL PASO, TEX., U.S.A.”. The scope has some little nicks and a few hairline scratches. The edge of the objective lens has a dent. The scope has a fine crosshair and the glass is clear, in about Very Good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose cap, stacking loop, 2 barrel bands, 2 sling loops, 2 reinforcing bolts, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The refurbished stock has a few light marks on the front of the pistol grip and light handling marks. The LOP measures 13 1/4 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The refinished plate has a few tiny nicks. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: The finish appears Original with the exception of the bolt and the stock hardware which appear Refurbished.
Bore Condition: The 4 grooved bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. The bore shows an M.E. of about 2.0.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are a few small scrapes and scuffs on the barrel and bottom metal. The bottom metal has some mottled thinning, mottled discoloration, and a few oil stains. The receiver has a few rubs and little marks. The bolt knob has a few little rubs and scuffs. There is standard operational wear. One of the rear sling swivel base screws is sticking out from the wood. The rear sling loop base has some finish loss from oxidation. The screw heads show light use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a canvas sling and thepreviousy described scope & scope accessories. The sling has faded markings and some scattered spots of discoloration. There is some light oxidation on the metal components. The sling rates in about Very Good condition.
