Markings: The receiver legs are bedded to the stock so we did not remove the action from the stock. The trigger group is removable.
There is no import mark.

Hammer: “C46008-2 HR C”– Not listed in our reference material (page 98). Our research indicates that this is a Harrington and Richardson subcontractor mark.
Safety: “SA-11” – A Springfield part (page 103).
Follower: “12” – A Springfield part (page 83).
Receiver Leg: Not viewed due to bedding (page 29).
Op Rod: Not viewed due to bedding (page 71).
Barrel: “SA 6535448 11 65 MD51”, “P”, “M” and with a Defense “Eagle” acceptance stamp – A Springfield part (page 63 – 64).

The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “WCE”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “S A”. The face of the sight’s riser is marked “NM” for National Match. The NM hooded aperture is missing. A larger aperture is still in place.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The face of the grip is marked “P” and with a faded “P”.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. We found cleaning gear stored in the butt. The refinished buttplate shows small scrapes and some discoloration from oxidation. The stock shows several scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Many have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some fouling in the grooves near the muzzle. There is no erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.5. The throat shows a T.E. of 7.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes and some small scratches. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show some thinning consistent with cycling. There are areas of light thinning on the leading edges of the metal.  Most of the markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A chamber brush and a grease pot are stored in the butt. These are in about Very Good condition.
