Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / 1062246”. The top of the Sedgley barrel is marked “U.S.M.C. / 1-44” above an encircled “S”. The safety is marked “SAFE READY” and the magazine cutoff is marked “ON OFF”. The barrel band is marked with a faded “U”. The right side of the nosecap and rear of the safety lever are both marked “R”. The right rear of the bolt assembly is marked “36”. The top of the bolt handle is marked “W 3 L”. The stock throughbolts are marked “3” on the left and the safety cutout is marked “S”. The left of the front sight hood is marked “flaming bomb / U.S.” and the right “R”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a pinned blade atop a barrel mounted base. The rear sight is a “U” notched blade attached to a fully adjustable sight ladder marked from “3-27”. When flipped up separate notches and an aperture on the ladder can be used for sighting.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nosecap, stacking loop, barrel band, 2 sling loops, 2 through bolts, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The buttplate shows some pitting and is proud to the wood. The wood has some spots of brown filler material likely to fill previous scrapes, some of the most noticeable are on the sides between the through bolts and forend on the bottom and right side. The wood shows some small scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Most of these marks have been finished over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The four groove bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling and only a few spots of minor erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of about 1.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish as refinished. The bottom metal and bolt handle have pitting and thinning. There are some scattered scuffs and handling marks. There are is some erosion under the finish on the receiver. There are some rubs and scuffs that have thinned the finish, most noticeable on the barrel. There are some spots of discoloration. The portion of the rear sight that the ladder is attached to has some light movement. The screw heads show light use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is an olive green canvas sling. The cloth has some light wear and the metal fittings show some light scuffs, the sling rates in about Fine condition.
