The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “NI C” on the edge.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The face of the grip is marked with 2 “P” proofs. The top of the butt is marked “G / 31” in white paint. The left side and bottom of the butt are each marked with an “RA” stamping. These are Arsenal Rebuild stampings from the Raritan Arsenal (page 135).
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows some scrapes. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Many of these marks have damaged small portions of the surface wood. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Arsenal Rebuild

Bore Condition: The bore is bright; semi bright near the muzzle.  The rifling is deep. There is no visible erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 1. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. Small scratches show through the new finish on the receiver.  The metal shows light scrapes, scuffs, & handling marks. The gas tube shows scratches & some thinning. The op rod shows an area of thinning below the wood. The trigger group and receiver legs show light scrapes under the wood. The right side of the receiver & front of the bolt show some thinning consistent with cycling the action. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:  The rifle comes in a green hard plastic case that is marked on both sides with “stars & stripes”, “CMP / www.theCMP.org”, the CMP seal “stars / eagle holding arrows”, and with other information. The interior of the case has foam pieces that show light soiling, compression, and a few small surface tears. The case has 4 latches and 3 reinforced locking holes. The case shows several small scrapes and scratches. It is in about Very Good Plus condition. The rifle comes with an M1 Garand owner’s manual. It shows light creasing & light discoloration. It is in about Fine condition.
