Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER- MODEL 70 – FEATHERWEIGHT – / – TRADE MARK – MADE IN U.S.A. – WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL / – 270 WIN. – “ and “WP” in a circle. The left side of the receiver is marked with “WP” in a circle and WINCHESTER”. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number “457151”.

Barrel Length: 22”

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights, the rear dovetail in the barrel has been filled. The left side of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for an aperture sight. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and currently sports two scope rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece finely checkered wood stock with ebony forend tip, capped pistol grip, raised comb, and two sling swivel studs. The checkering is sharp with one or two individual compressed checkers. There is one impact mark at the top front of the comb with two other drag lines on the right side of the comb. There are no other eye catching signs of wear. The buttplate is finely checkered with a trapdoor storage compartment that is lined with red velvet. This is the softest butt compartment that I have personally ever felt. The LOP measures 13 ½” from the front of the trigger to the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. This rifle sports a jeweled bolt and follower with a finely checkered bolt knob. The blued surfaces show only the lightest of handling marks. There are no significant signs of wear. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
