Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903 / 298555”. The top of the Remington barrel is marked “R A / flaming bomb / 4 – 44”. The bottom is marked “P”. The safety is marked “SAFE READY” and the magazine cutoff is marked “ON OFF”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe-style sight integral to a banded base pinned to the front of the barrel. The sight accepts interchangeable inserts with a translucent aperture insert currently installed. The right of the receiver bridge has been drilled and tapped with a Lyman 48S aperture sight installed, adjustable for windage and elevation. There are two male dovetail bases, one mounted to the barrel just behind the barrel band, the other mounted to a cantilevered base screwed to the rear of the barrel, hanging back over the chamber ring. Attached to these mounts are rings holding a Unertl 6x scope with crosshair reticle. The scope has threaded lense caps, clear glass, and scattered light wear in the body, in about Very Good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece smooth wood with nosecap, barrel band, handguard cut for the front scope base, pistol grip, straight comb, sling swivel in the belly and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor over a storage compartment in the butt. There is provision for sling/stacking loops on the nosecap and barrel band, but none are present. The grain and finish of the handguard is notably different from the stock. The stocks have scattered nicks, dings, scuffs, and scratches, almost none of which are in the handguard. There is a patch repair on the top-right edge of the forend in front of the barrel band, two recoil lugs under the receiver, a crack in the top of the wrist behind the receiver and there are areas filled with what appears to be a bedding compound at the rear of the receiver and trigger guard. The LOP measures 13″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has scattered wear and surface oxidation. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition as refinished and not original to the gun.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is generally sharp with more notable wear in front of the chamber. Our gauge shows an ME of about 2.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its metal finish as refinished. The exposed metal shows scattered discoloration with most notable wear on the receiver and bottom metal. The action shows operational wear. There are some light scrapes and handling marks. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good condition as refinished and customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed scope as described and an additional wood handguard. The handguard does not appear that it will mount properly with the current barrel band and scope base. The handguard shows scattered nicks, dings and scuffs, no chips or cracks, and has an intact clip, in about Very Good condition.
