Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED APR.20.1897. SEPT.9.1902 / DEC.19.1905. FEB.14.1911. AUG.19.1913” and “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.” with a rampant colt behind the slide serrations. The right is marked “COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45” and “C 20040”. The top of the slide is marked “40” and with a faint, incomplete Argentine crest. The rear of the slide is marked “A” under the firing pin plate. The right side of the frame is marked “GOVERNMENT MODEL / C 20040” and “C 20040”. The left of the trigger guard is marked “R”. The top of the frame is marked “R” in front of and to the right of the disconnector, there are small diamonds on the frame rail to the right of and in the concave area in front of the feed-ramp. The bottom of the trigger guard is import-marked “CAI ST ALB VT”. The top of the barrel is marked “20040”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a short rounded blade fixed to the slide. The rear sight is a U-notch dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood with raised smooth diamonds around the grip screws. The left panel has a few light compressions in the top diamond. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The checkering is generally sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine-plus condition as not original to the gun.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is gray with sharp rifling. There is scattered light erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 87% of its current metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. There is handling wear in the grip areas. There is some other scattered light finish wear, nicks, scuffs and scratches. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are generally clear, the markings on the top of the slide are very shallow, the import mark is worn. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is crisp. There is light play between the slide and frame. This pistol has manual and grip safeties. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 7-round magazine. The magazine has operational wear and some scattered marks with intact feed lips and a strong spring, in about Very Good condition.
