Markings: The right side of the slide is marked “CUSTOM II”. The right side of the frame is marked “KIMBER / NRA182293” behind the slide stop pin and “YONKERS NY USA” in front of it. The top of the chamber visible through the ejection port is marked “.45 ACP”. The left side of the slide is marked “Kimber”. The grips are marked “* / FREEDOM / NRA / WARRIOR / *”.

Sights / Optics: The aftermarket sights are three dot sights. The front sight is a blade with a green fiber optic insert and is dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square-notch low mount-style sight with a serrated rear face and two green fiber optic inserts; it is dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are black two-piece stippled wood panels that read “* / FREEDOM / NRA / WARRIOR / *”. There are no major defects, just light handling wear. Overall, the grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is some light thinning on the thumb safety. There are a few marks on the sights. The left side of the slide has a small mark into the finish that is to the left of the front sight. There is standard operational wear. The grip screws are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit shows very light movement. The trigger is crisp. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
Box & Accessories: This pistol comes with a wood display case made by Eagle Mountain Wooden Box Co., Silver Stag limited edition knife, cardboard knife box, white shipping sleeve, a 7 round magazine, promotional paperwork, and a leather NRA branded sheath. The display case is walnut with two clasps in the front and two hinges in the back. It has a black lined interior with cutouts for the knife and pistol. The interior of the lid is engraved “FRIENDS OF / NRA”. The case rates in Excellent condition. The 6” handcrafted blade is made of high carbon D2 steel and has jeweled metal. The grips are the same as the grips installed on the pistol. The blade has some little freckles of surface frost and discoloration, it rates in about Fine condition. The sheath has a few marks and rates in about Fine condition. The magazine has some light wear and rates in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: For 40 years, Kimber has been producing some of the finest 1911-style pistols in America and this is no exception. The Custom II comes from Kimber packed with features such as front and rear slide serrations, extended beavertail grip safety, full-length stainless guide-rod, extended thumb-safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger, blacked out sights, and of course, Kimber quality. This example is the Friends of NRA California Gun of The Year Edition with a host of nice goodies including a Silver Stag 6” handcrafted knife and walnut display case.
