HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”. The right of the frame is marked with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard has “K” and “VP”, the right has “4”. The barrel is marked “COLT .45 AUTO”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with a serrated rear face staked to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered “Coltwood” brown plastic with circled rampant colt logos in their middles. The grips have little in the way of wear, but have shrunk slightly (common with Coltwood) and the screw holes have stretched due to the shrinkage. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition and would rate Excellent but for the shrinkage.
Type of Finish: Nickel
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. There is little actual finish loss, but the left slide flat and left of the dust cover’s nickel has gotten a little cloudy and there is some discoloration in the matte areas of the slide. The action shows minor operational wear and there are a few scattered minor marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good-plus condition. If the cloudiness could be brightened up, it may come to Fine-plus.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp. The slide has very little play to the frame. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a total of two 7-round magazines marked “COLT / 45 AUTO” on the floorplate. The magazines show light operational wear, intact feed lips and strong springs, in about Very Good-plus condition. Also included is a Golden State Arms brochure about the 1911 pistol.
Our Assessment: The 1911 is one of the best pistols ever designed, seeing use in the US Military for the better part of a century and dominating pistol shooting sports for decades. This 1960 vintage commercial Government model is a great example of a post-war Commercial Government model which has nickel finish and Coltwood grips. The pistol is in Very Good-plus condition with about 90% of its metal finish, a great bore and strong mechanics. Really, there isn’t much finish loss, but there is some cloudiness on the left of the gun and minor discoloration in the matte-finished areas. This will make a great shooter or addition to a Colt collection. Please see our pictures and good luck!
