Barrel: The barrel is unmarked. We checked under the handguards.
The stock and sights are described below.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “WC E”.
The rifle comes with a reproduction M84 scope & mount. The 2.2 power scope that has a thin post reticle and an integral sliding sunshade on the front of the tube. The sunshade functions. The scope has two adjustment knobs under metal flip caps that function. The top knob is marked “0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9“ and with hash marks. The side knob is marked “R 0 L 5 10 15 20 20 15 10 5”. The scope mounts to the rifle’s base with the attached quick release oversized screw. Three allen screws have been added to secure the scope in place. The base is attached to the barrel. The scope’s right plate is marked “TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO. 10535”. The tube shows light scrapes & small scratches. The adjustment knob caps show scrapes. The top cap is dented. The sun shade functions. The rubber eyepiece shows scrapes. The scope lenses appear clear. Overall the scope is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition. The scope mount shows scrapes. It is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door for storage. The buttplate shows scrapes & discoloration. A leather cheek piece is secured to the wood with leather string and a bottom screw. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Most of these marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The grooves and muzzle are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is frosting in the grooves and at the muzzle. There Is also some fouling in the grooves which should clean up. The bore shows an M.E. of 3. The throat shows a T.E. of 4.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish, as refinished. The gas tube and the barrel mounted scope base show scrapes & scratches. The barrel shows thin scrapes & a few small scratches. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show thinning from cycling. The metal shows other light handling marks. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition, as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a reproduction M84 scope & base mount; see above. A leather cheek piece is fitted to the stock. The leather shows discoloration and light scrapes. The brass eyelets show verdigris. The check piece is in about Very Good Plus condition. The rifle comes with a green canvas sling. It shows discoloration & soiling on the canvas as well as scrapes & oxidation on the metal. Overall it is in about Good condition. The rifle is stored in a locking pine crate with foam block inserts. Both sides of the crate are marked with the Miltech “rifle / crate / MILTECH” logo. The top and front of the crate are marked “U.S. RIFLE, CALIBER .30 / M1D 1 E.A. / S.N. 3818176 / MFG. SA”. The markings shown in bold type were applied with a permanent marker. The wood shows light discoloration, soiling, scratches, and compression marks. Most of the marks are along the bottom. The lockable latches show light oxidation and light scrapes. Overall the crate is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand is now in M1D Garand Sniper configuration. The rifle was not assembled into an M1D Sniper by the U.S. Military. It was built by Miltech on a WWII dated Springfield Armory receiver. It was built using lots of USGI Springfield parts and a modern production barrel. The stock and cheekpiece are also modern production. This M1D is topped with a reproduction M84 Sniper Scope & Mount. This Garand Sniper comes in a nice wooden crate that can be used for both storage and display. It will add to a WWII or Military collection.
