Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COMPACT / CAL .45″. The right side of the slide is marked “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” followed by the crossed cannon logo. The right side of the frame is marked “SPRINGFIELD INC / GENESEO IL USA / LW 127246”. The top of the barrel is marked “S.A. .45AUTO”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Trijicon serrated blade with a tritium lamp and is dovetailed to the front of the slide and further secured with a set screw. The rear sight is a Novak square notch with two recessed dots (not night sights) dovetailed to the rear of the slide and fixed with a set-screw. The lamp in the front sight glows bright and is easily acquirable in low light environments.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered cocobolo panels with Springfield Armory’s crossed-cannon logo in the center, smooth diamonds around the grip screw escutcheons, and the words “RO COMPACT” along the rear edges. The smooth diamonds have a few little spots of finish loss. The checkering is intact and attractive. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is a little spot of finish loss on the bottom of the slide at the front. There is a little scratch and a few little marks through the finish on the beavertail safety. The edges have some thinning, most noticeable on the slide at the front. The frame safety and slide stop pin housing has a spot of finish loss from contact with the safety. The left side of the slide has a very faint line of thinning on the caliber marking. There is light handling and operational wear. The screw heads are unmarred. The markings are clear and crisp. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp and has a very nice distinct reset. The slide to frame fitment is snug. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a gray plastic Springfield Armory case with serial-matching end-label, 11 Gear belt slide holster, 11 Gear dual magazine slider, and one 6-round magazine. The magazine has light wear from standard use and some mottled discoloration likely from oil, in about Fine condition. The 11 Gear accessories are both in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Springfield Armory Ranger Officer Compact 1911 chambered in the ever popular .45 ACP cartridge. The 1911 Range Officer Compact .45 packs competition grade accuracy into an easily packable chassis. Sporting a checkered flat mainspring housing, an extended grip safety with a memory bump, and a competition trigger in a sleek package that looks serious just riding on your belt, this Range Officer Compact packs 6+1 of .45 ACP onboard in a gun with a grip that is fully ½” shorter than a standard 1911. Ammunition is easy to find and afford with rounds for both practice and protection. The trigger is far nicer than most pistols this size and will help you get the most out of its quality barrel.
