Markings: The water table is marked with the serial number “C5494”, assembly number “MK101”, with Italian proofs and a Pedersoli trade mark. The left barrel flat of the barrel has a Pedersoli trade mark, “C5494”, “.45×70”, and a proof mark. The right barrel flat has “MK101” and Italian proofs. The undersides of the barrels are each marked with the date code and Italian proofs. The forend iron is marked “101”. The barrel rib is marked “*Trail Guns Armory*”.

Sights / Optics: The rifle barrel set has a brass beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the rib. The rear sights are a pair of flip up U-notch adjustable inserts dovetailed to the rib, each with a white reference triangle and sighted for each of the barrels.
Weight: 11 lbs. 3.3 oz.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with a splinter forend, rounded semi-pistol grip, straight comb with cheekpiece, a brown rubber buttpad and a sling stud in the belly bottom of the rib forward the forend. There are some light nicks, scratches and compressions scattered throughout. There is a thin crack right side of the wrist at the receiver and radiating rearward. The checkering is generally sharp. There are no chips. The LOP measures 15 3/8″ and 14 1/2″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttpad. The drop at comb is approximately 1 3/8″, drop at heel 2″. The cast is neutral. The pad has some scattered minor wear and discoloration. Overall, the stocks are in Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is some persistent fouling in the grooves but no erosion. In this writer’s opinion, these bores are a 9 or 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The barrels have gone to a plum hue with a few light nicks. The action shows minor operational wear and light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this set is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions properly. The barrel set locks up with no play to the receiver. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a beautiful double gun from Pedersoli. The name Kodiak is appropriate as the .45-70 Gov’t rifle barrels would be suitable for hunting bear, and with full loads, it’s gonna be a bear to shoot! The gun has classic styling with a case colored finish on its external hammer action and blued barrels. The gun is in Fine condition. It’s beautiful styling and great condition will make for a great gun for hunting or to add to a collection. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
