Markings: The right side of the slide is marked ”COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The left side of the slide is marked “COLT’S MK IV/SERIES ’70 / GOVERNMENT MODEL / .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER” followed by a rampant colt. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” above each pistol’s respective serial number. The barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO-“. The left of the trigger guard is marked with the “VP” proof and “L”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered double diamond wood. The grips have a few light handling marks and the checkering is sharp. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: These handguns both retain about 99% of their metal finish. There are no major defects, just light handling wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, these pistols are both in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The actions function correctly. The slide to frame fit has hardly any play. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Each pistol comes with a two-piece blue box, serial matching white case sleeve, paperwork including the manual & stop sign hangtag, and 7-round magazine.
Our Assessment: Colt’s 1911 served the United States military through two World Wars and several other conflicts, is still in use by some units today, and has become popular with law enforcement, competitors, and recreational shooters across the nation. The design has seen some updates including a firing-pin block safety, higher profile sights, and more ergonomic grips, but the basic design and fantastic trigger remain the same after more than a century. This pair is an example of the 1911 which was made by the Colt Custom Shop. It has a Series ’70 Slide, curved serrated mainspring housing, and series 70 markings. The pistols are in Excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in their boxes than out. The original boxes, box sleeves, and paperwork are included. If you want a nice pair of 1911s, this is a great addition to any safe and this pair would make a nice heirloom set to pass to future generations.
