Markings: The portion of the barrel visible through the ejection port is markled with a “P” in a bomb proof mark and “9 m/m&380”. The left side of the slide is marked at the rear with a “P” in a bomb proof mark. The top of the slide is marked at the front with the Astra logo and at the rear “Unceta Y Compañia / GUERNICA (España)”. The right side of the slide is marked at the rear with the serial number, “534460”. The left side of the frame behind the left grip panel is marked with an proof house admission proof mark, a Spanish “LL” date code, indicating the year of manufacture as 1940, and an Eibar proof mark. The right side of the frame behind the right grip panel is marked with the serial number, “534460”.

Barrel Length: 4 3/4”

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch that is integral to the rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood panels. There is use-wear on some edges and a couple spots where the checkering is worn. The checkering is otherwise well-defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Very Good-to-Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 87% of its metal finish. The slide has scattered light nicks and dings most notable along the edge of the slide channel. There is also some minor thinning on the edges, and a spot of minor finish loss on the back of the slide. There is a cluster of nicks on the right side of the frame that cross over to the slide. The screw heads are sharp with usable slots and markings are mostly clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This pistol includes one (1) 6-round magazine. The magazine has moderate operational wear, has a strong spring, intact feed lips and overall rates in Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: This spanish made Astra 300 dates back to 1940 and was one of the few that did not see service with the German Wehrmacht. This example is in overall Very Good-plus condition with much of its original finish remaining, a bright clean bore and its original magazine. This is a classic Spanish pistol that will be a boon to any serious collection. Good luck and happy bidding!
