Action Type: Single or Double Action Semi-Auto fed by Removable Magazine (no magazine included). This pistol has a de-cocker safety.

Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “P.38″, “5416 k” and “ac 44”. The right is marked with two eagle over “359” waffenamts, one to each side of an eagle clutching swastika proof. The left of the frame is marked “5416 k” and with eagle over “359” waffenamt above the trigger guard. The front face of the barrel assembly is marked “5416 / k”, the right has a hardness-test punch mark, the left is marked with eagle over “359” waffenamt at the front and with eagle clutching swastika proof at the rear. The right of the locking block is marked with eagle over “359” waffenamt, the left with eagle clutching swastika proof, the bottom with “416 / k”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to a boss at the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “U”-notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are AEG two-piece serrated brown synthetic panels. Each panel has six serrations interrupted by the grip screw escutcheon. The grips have minor handling wear with only a few scattered light marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is infrequent minor erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 87% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges. The most notable finish loss is handling wear in the frontstrap. There is some light wear on each side of the barrel at the muzzle and a spot of wear on the right slide flat toward the front. The action shows light operational wear. The finish has a plum hue in some areas. The screw head is sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. It has a decocker safety on the left side of the slide. The slide has minor play to the frame. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
