LSB’s First Live Firearms Auction is a Huge Success
Lock Stock and Barrel begins live auctions!
Another chapter opened in the storied legacy of Lock Stock and Barrel Auctions, on March 1 & 2, 2024; the beginning of our live auction series! LSB has been auctioning firearms via the internet for well over two decades, and we thought it would be great to bring the event directly to the buying public!
LSB has always prided themselves on making buying and selling as easy and painless as possible, handling everything from pickup to paperwork to payment. It was time to bring the process to the people!
Plans were made, a site was selected, firearms were carefully curated, and auctioneers were selected on the basis of ability, knowledge, and oh, yes, personality. So, on Saturday and Sunday, March 1 & 2, 2024, in addition to offering 791 hand selected gems to the firearms and collecting community, LSB thought it would be an additional bonus to make the event good, old fashioned, barn-raising fun!
The auctioneers were longtime auctioneer, former interim mayor and police chief of San Fernando, Robert Ordelheide, Ventura PD armorer, Paul LoVerme, and the man himself, world champion shooter, TV personality, and founder of LSB, Spencer Hoglund. For two days, these gentlemen would be wielding the gavel, providing insights and background on the items for sale, and injecting humor and knowledge to the proceedings.
Prospective buyers were able to preview the entire collection on February 29, the day before the auction. And what a collection it was!
Day One began with more modern firearms; a tasteful selection of single action, double action, and foreign manufactured pistols, rifles, and shotguns. All of these were snapped up by eager bidders, at prices that made the sellers and the buyers pleased to have access to such firearms. But this was just whetting the whistle for the heavy hitters that were to come on Day Two.
Imagine, if you will; a rare, iron-framed Henry rifle. Also up for auction was Chuck Conners’ “Rifleman” rifle. A 3rd generation collection that had languished in the Pacific Northwest was brought into the light via the auction. Here are some of the firearms highlights:
Winchester Model 1873 Serial Number 7, sold for $80,000 plus buyer’s premium.
Chuck Conners’ “Rifleman” 1892 Winchester lever action rifle, with documentation, sold for $35,000 plus buyer’s premium.
Colt Model 1911 US Army, Manufactured in 1916; the Lowest Production Year of All 1911 & 1911A1’s, sold for $7,500 plus buyer’s premium.

Here’s a delicious rarity: Jim Hoag Master Grade 8″ Colt Gold Cup National Match Longslide Pistol, with Pictures & Documentation, sold for $30,000 plus buyer’s premium.
A unique slice of Americana; The First Winchester Model 1873, 1 of 1,000 Rifle, Serial Number 778, sold for $110,000 plus buyer’s premium.
One of the greatest curiosities of the Great War: a rare & attractive Webley–Fosbery Model 1903 .455 Caliber Automatic Revolver, sold for $9,500 plus buyer’s premium.
New Haven Arms Co. Iron Frame Model 1860 Henry, Serial Number 14, sold for $70,000 plus buyer’s premium.
An amazing slice of American Civil War History; this documented, Inscribed and Identified Civil War Death to Traitors” 1860 Henry Rifle “, sold for $55,000 plus buyer’s premium.
When the dust had cleared, and the happy buyers, (and, with 791 lots in the rearview mirror, the exhausted but content auctioneers!) were able to head for the exits, nearly 2 million dollars worth of fine firearms and collectible inventory had changed hands. Buyers clutched the receipts for their new treasures, while satisfied sellers counted their profits. Despite the atypical late winter rain drenching Southern California, almost 35% of the sales came from the auction room. Bidding was spirited, lively, and added to the Kentucky-Derby like atmosphere. In addition to in person buying, there were also available to buyers, our proprietary LSB software, which minimized the fees, Proxibid, iCollector, invaluable and LiveAuctioneers.
And everyone agreed, they can’t wait for the next event from Lock Stock & Barrel in June 2024!
