SUMMARY: Lock Stock and Barrel (AKA: LSB) is an energetic, fast paced organization operating in Simi Valley, California. We are seeking a full time Account to work in a busy, premier west coast on-line auction house specializing in selling firearms and related items through an on-line auction format. The successful individual will examine financial statements for accuracy and conformance with laws, prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas for opportunity and risk, prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The successful individual will demonstrate competency in using Quickbooks, strong organizational skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and part of a team, proficient computer skills (Quickbooks and Google WorkStation) and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uses Quickbooks to perform financial booking tasks.
  • Prepares information and reports for management and the LSB CPA for tax purposes.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Guides business decisions by combining accounting and financial information.
  • Evaluates business performance.
  • Helps leadership evaluate and plan the cost of doing business.
  • Understands financial and nonfinancial data and how to integrate information.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Firearms knowledge and auction experience desired but not required.
  • Experience with basic cost analysis, AP/AR, account reconciliation, invoice reconciliation, credit card and expense report processing and reconciliation.
  • Ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with basic accounting and Point of Sales (SOS) systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult customers in a calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, handle detail, follow-through on tasks and problem solve with minimal supervision and successfully complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and problem solving skills.
  • Able to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment.
  • Must have respect for confidentiality; ability to work with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google WorkStation.
  • Ability to get along well with others and be a positive member of LSB.
  • Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV and the ability to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from the California Department of Justice.
  • 3 – 5 years of related work experience, especially in cost accounting and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full time, hourly position. A 40 hour work week schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Hours of work will be established between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Every other Sunday evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm may be required. Overtime may be required on occasion.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary depends on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation, and a 401(k). Salary Grade: 17   Salary Range: $26.56 – $33.21 – $39.85
