Our Assessment: A Prohibition Era and World War II classic, this hefty semi-automatic reproduction firearm allows modern users to handle American history and look good at the same time. The Thompson is often called the “gun that made the 20’s roar”, but it was not the only reason for that saying. In fast cars with loads of moonshine, 1920’s bootleggers roared down country roads, evading the law and delivering white lightning to speakeasies. Lawmen raced after the motor bandits, wielding Tommy Guns and 1911s. It was not long before Hollywood depicted these duels on the big screen. The Roaring 20’s blazed a trail into American pop culture and history. It is only fitting then that Auto-Ordnance continue the series of WWII commemorative guns with the “Bootlegger Thompson”, dedicated to the Decade that defined a nation. Organized crime, Mafia crime bosses, Police forces, and underground syndicates all found the power to drive their efforts in the one of a kind piece of history we know as the 1927A1 Tommy Gun. Like every Thompson, the gun is all steel with high grade walnut furniture. The 16.5″ barrel is exceptionally accurate. Owning the Bootlegger Thompson gives the modern shooter the opportunity to own a piece of history, while honoring the memory of an era defined by a firearm. Claim the most iconic American Submachine gun to date, all wrapped up in its factory case to complete the Thompson experience with its can’t miss Drum Magazine. Good Luck!
