Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a small brass bead on the full length solid rib that has a wave pattern for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece checkered hard wood set. The forend’s wrap around checkers have areas of distress, the majority are well formed and have infrequent instances where the checker line work travels through the borders; the smooth portions show areas of abrasion and light scuffs. The butt stock has a strait wrist with checkers wrapping to the top of the wrist, swooping down to the belly. The flanks have scattered compression marks, more towards the butt plate. The belly has some deep marks as photographed, the comb has scuffs and a couple of compression marks. The wood to metal fit is correct. The drop at comb is 1 ½”, the drop at heel is 2 ¼”. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the rear trigger to the back of the butt plate, the front trigger yields an LOP of 14”. The stocks rate in about Very Good Plus overall condition. And would rate higher but for the deeper marks present.

Type of Finish: Blue & Case Colored

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with shallow scuffs. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows scuff abrasions on the barrel set, most notably on the left side near the frame, left flank near the muzzle, underneath about 3 /4 the way towards the muzzle and in occurrence underneath the set from assembly and disassembly. There are small patches of surface oxidation on the set with areas of scuff compression on the rib. The long lower tang has a few marks next to the screw heads. The case coloring has a brilliant hue and the bluing is deep. The screw heads are sharp and have instances of tool marks. The markings are crisp. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The triggers have very little takeup and offer a clean break. The action closes soundly with no play present. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This Vincenzo Bernardelli has brilliant case coloring and a deep blued barrel set. The shotgun displays scuff and scratch marks on the barrels and stocks; the butt stock and forend have areas of moderate to deep impact as photographed. The engraving shows fine detail in the floral and border elements. There are spots of surface oxidation on the barrel set with areas of deeper scratching from assembly and disassembly. The bores are bright with no erosion and the action locks up solid. If you have been looking for an eye catching upland game shotgun, this is a strong contender.
