Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight base is present but the leaf is missing. Equipped to the top of the receiver via a Redfield rail and two rings is a Weatherby Supreme scope with 3-9x magnification and a duplex reticle. There are some scattered light nicks and scratches on the external surfaces and the rubber optic ring is scratched and worn. The lenses are clear with a high level of visibility. The scope rates in about Good overall condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with pistol grip, straight comb, step-serrated orange ventilated Pachmayr White Line recoil pad, and sling studs front and rear. The finish on the buttstock shows some crazing on either side. There are some scattered light nicks and draglines throughout. There is a small hole in the belly that appears to have been made intentionally. The forearm checkering shows a few minor nicks but is generally sharp. The LOP measures 14 1/4″ and 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad and wood, respectively. The wood is shy of the recoil pad. The pad shows light discoloration at the heel and toe and remains supple. Overall, the stocks are in about Good-Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued, Black alloy trigger guard and floorplate.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore but there is some stubborn fouling nearer the muzzle.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is light thinning at the muzzle. There is minor operational wear. There are some light scratches infrequently dispersed about the receiver. There are a couple faint marks on the baseplate. There is a light mark or two on the barrel. There are a few nicks along the edges of the trigger guard. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a cross-bolt safety behind the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a three-round magazine.

Our Assessment: The Browning BAR rifle was produced starting in 1967. This particular example was manufactured in 1969 and it has a 24? barrel which has a bright bore and sharp rifling. The rifle looks to have seen very little use in the field or was just very well kept, retaining about 96% of its metal finish and strong mechanics. This is a beautiful timeless classic and it has decades of life left in it. Please see our photos and good luck!
