Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish as refinished. The underside of the receiver has surface erosion showing through the new finish. The receiver has areas of pin prick surface erosion showing through the new finish. The metal shows scuffs, light scrapes and some small scratches. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show light thinning consistent with cycling. The markings on the metal are well defined. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Cleaning gear is stored in the butt. The gear includes a  4 piece cleaning rod & loop, grease pot, plastic oiler, and a combination tool. The items show soiling and scrapes. They are in about Very Good overall condition.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was made back in 1944. At some point the rifle was rebuilt using Springfield parts, a Winchester barrel and a couple of small Italian parts. The rifle has been refinished so it looks good and should be fun to shoot.
