Op Rod: “D35382 9 SA” – A Springfield part (page 71).
Barrel: “3-S-A-5-44”– A Springfield part (page 63 – 64).

The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice . The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of 2.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The interior of the grip is marked with a Danish sticker. The sticker is marked with the serial number and other information (see photos). The bottom of the butt is marked with the serial number. These marks indicate post WWII Dainish service.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt.  The buttplate shows scrapes, scratches and some pin prick surface erosion. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Most of these marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The grooves and muzzle are grey. The rifling is deep. There is erosion in the grooves and near the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 2.3. The throat shows a T.E. of 3.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. The gas tube and left side of the receiver show scrapes. The right side of the receiver shows light thinning consistent with cycling. The remaining metal shows scuffs, light scrapes and light handling marks. Most of the markings are deep. Some of the markings on the rear of the receiver are slightly faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a green canvas sling. The canvas shows discoloration & soiling. The metal shows light surface erosion, discoloration and scrapes. It is in about Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: This Springfield M1 Garand was made back in 1944. After WWII it appears to have made its way to Denmark where it was put to use. The interior of the grip is marked with a Danish sticker. The sticker is marked with the serial number and other information (see photos). The bottom of the butt is marked with the serial number. These marks indicate post WWII Danish service.
