Markings: The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number, SigArms logo, and “SIGARMS INC. EXETER NH / FRAME MADE IN GERMANY”. The right side of the barrel visible through the ejection port is marked “.40 S&W”. The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER P226 STAINLESS” and “SIGARMS INC. / EXETER-NH-USA”. The back of the frame has a metal plaque with the Ventura County Sheriffs badge and a QR code.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium insert and is dovetailed into the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two tritium inserts and is dovetailed into the slide. The lamps produce a strong glow.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece textured black plastic panels. There are some light handling marks and a few little nicks and scuffs on the bottom edges. There are no chips or cracks. The texturing is strong. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some little nicks and marks through the finish on the front strap. There is some finish loss on the back edge of the frame. There are some little marks on the trigger guard and finish loss on the corners. The slide has some little scuffs and rubs. There is standard operational wear. The screw heads show light use. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is an M3 Tactical Light, three 12 round magazines, and an Aker black leather holster. The flashlight functions properly. Please note no magazines will be included if prohibited by your local laws.
Our Assessment: The P226 is a time-tested platform that has seen use in militaries and law enforcement agencies alike. With its reputation for reliability and durability, you can’t go wrong with it. It was developed for U.S. military trials when the military wanted a 9mm service pistol and only lost the bid because of the total package price. While it did not win the contract, the U.S. Navy Seals liked what they saw and decided to adopt the pistol. If you’re looking for your next handgun for home defense or duty carry this handgun is surely up to the task! With its reputation, it is no surprise it was used by the Ventura County Sheriffs Department here in Ventura County.
