Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine made in 1926 and chambered in .25-20 Winchester. This rifle is in about Very Good condition as refinished with about 80% of its new blue finish remaining. The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling, showing infrequent light erosion and minor pitting, still quite shootable. The lever locks up solidly and the action functions correctly. The .25-20 Win. cartridge was based on necking down the .32-20 cartridge, and was intended for small game and varmints, developing about 1460 fps. with 86 grain bullets. It was once a favorite with farmers, ranchers, pot hunters and trappers. This rifle would be a good addition to a Winchester collection missing the 1892 SRC and could still be a fun shooter for the lucky winner. Please see our photos and good luck!
