There are some small scuffs that have thinned the finish. There is some thinning on the edges from use with some finish loss on the bottom front edge of the frame and on the sides of the barrel at the muzzle. There are a few little scratches, most noticeable on the left of the frame. There are a few freckles of faint frost on the sideplate. The hammer has been reprofiled. The screw heads are lightly worn with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces very little side to side play in full lockup in all 6 chambers. The double action trigger pull is smooth, the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.

Our Assessment: This is Smith & Wesson’s 1950 .45 Target Model, a light barreled target revolver chambered in .45 ACP with a 6 1/2″ barrel, and adjustable sights. The model would later go on to become the model 26. The .45 ACP is still a popular caliber with a wide variety of ammunition available at reasonable prices (usually). This example is in Very Good condition with about 92% of its original finish with some scattered wear, a bright bore and strong mechanics. While a little large for concealed carry, this revolver would be great for target shooting as the name implies, as a hunting sidearm, or even home defense. Please see our pictures and good luck!
