Markings: The right side of the receiver is marked “Carroll, IA”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SM01026” and “Volquartsen SM”. The left side of the barrel near the receiver is marked with the company logo and “17 WSM”. The buttpad is marked “decelerator”.
Barrel Length: 20”, 22” to the end of the compensator.
Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver has an integral rail.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one-piece black textured composite stock features a pistol grip, right side palm swell, monte carlo comb with cheekpiece, firm rubber buttpad, a sling stud in the belly, and a Harris SBRM bipod installed on the forend. The bipod springs are strong and it rates in about Excellent condition. The stock shows some scattered light marks, hardly noticeable. There are no major imperfections to speak of. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the firm rubber buttpad. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light wear on the rail from previously installed accessories. There are light handling marks, no major defects. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Aside from the previously mentioned bipod, this gun comes with three 8-round rotary magazines. The magazines show practically no wear and are in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The SM is the total package. It is what every shooter is looking for – lightweight, great balance and most of all incredible accuracy. The carbon fiber reduces weight and adds rigidity to the barrel and looks sharp. The rifle comes equipped with a forward blow compensator which rounds out the rifle not just cosmetically but functionally as well. Volquartsen has long been a name associated with top notch build quality and after holding this it is no wonder why.
