Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech, and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked “WARNING-READ INSTRUCTION BOOK FOR SAFE OPERATION-FREE FROM / REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.” followed by “223 REM”. The left side of the barrel is also marked “83 LK 30” next to the receiver. The right side of the barrel is also marked with inspector, proof, and test marks at the breech. The bolt is matched to the rifle and the bottom is etched “1818”.

Sights / Optics: There are no iron sights on this rifle. The rifle comes installed with a Leupold VARI-X II 4-12 power scope with a fine duplex reticle set in rings installed on a one-piece Leupold base. The scope has some light marks and handling wear but no major defects. The glass is Leupold clear and rates in about Excellent condition. The set of rings display oxidation on them and rate in about Very Good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is skipline checkered wood. There are a few light impact marks and rubs. There is a small impact mark on the top of the cheekpiece which has gone through the finish. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is intact and attractive. The LOP measures 13 ½” from the front of the trigger to the back of the checkered hard rubber buttplate. The buttplate has a few minor marks, but the checkering is sharp and attractive. The stock rates in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is a small patch of oxidation on the right side of the receiver at the front. There is also some oxidation where the barrel meets the receiver. The balance of the finish shows minor rubs on the barrel which will most likely go unnoticed. The bolt displays faint thinning from typical use and some discoloration. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes installed with a Leupold VARI-X II 4-12 power scope with a fine duplex reticle set in rings installed on a one-piece Leupold base and a Harris 1A2 Ultralight bipod. The scope has some light marks and handling wear but no major defects. The glass is Leupold clear and rates in about Excellent condition. The set of rings display oxidation on them and rate in about Very Good condition. The bipod is adjustable from 6” to 9”, it displays standard use and rates in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction. It has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement. This one is chambered in .223, one of the most popular and easiest attained rounds on the market. The heavy barrel has a nice bright bore with sharp rifling and this example comes with a Leupold scope and a Harris bipod, a perfect varmint hunting setup.
