The screw heads are good, but have obviously been turned. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not take down the shotgun, or fire it.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 42 is a diminutive version of the venerable Model 12. It is a favorite of some skeet shooters. From the serial number, we believe that this one is from the first year of production, making it even more collectable. This shotgun is really in good shape for an 80 year old shotgun and would be great to have for next year’s dove season. Take advantage of this opportunity, bid early and often.
